SynthesisA skill that I applied the whole year but just in my house at all times when doing my homework is reading a contexts and drawing appropriately on ideas of different fields. The only way that I applied this skill was when reading the textbook for homework and then having to take notes. When I would take the notes first i had to divide my paper into sections by sub sections. Then when doing the sub section I had to summarize the whole paragraph into one or two sentences. This was really hard because I had to take the main points of one paragraph and had to write it down in a sentence that had to make sense. I believe that I never actually did this right because when I would take my notes and the go to class and see what Mr.Rodriguez thought was important my just had some of the main points but not all.Another reason why I think I never did was because I would get frustrated easy by not knowing what was important and what was not. Maybe I would have mastered it or at least gotten better at it if I had put some type of effort which I never did. One time that I remember that actually did right was when doing the chapter 16 notes. I only took up a line but when I got to class that day I knew exactly what the teacher was talking about. I think that maybe next year I can better my skill and actually master it. The only way that I got a little better was by seeing the examples the teacher did. Then from there I kinda of knew how to extract some of the important information. EvidenceThe evidence that I am using is my chapter notes from chapter 16 and chapter 21. When doing both synthesis notes I only took up one line per paragraph.

ComparisonA skill that I feel that I mastered and that I know I improved threw out the year is having the ability to describe, compare and evaluate, multiple historical developments within one society or multiple society's. One way that I learned this skill was by writing comparison essays. When I would write comparison essays I had to analyze to different society's from the same time period. Sometimes those two society's where from two opposite sides of the map. But one way or another i had to find the connection between. Another thing that I had to when writing this was doing a chart where I listed the differences and similarities of those two societies. When I did that then I had to apply the 3 rule where I had to know 3 reasons to justify my claim. Something that at the beginning I found difficult was when I had to think of the three reasons to justify my claim. When writing the essay you didn't necessary have to write three claims but I found it easier in the AP exam. One time that I remember doing this was when I had to compare DAR AL Islam and China culture. When I did this in the middle of first semester I thought it was kinda hard. But as I practiced it even more and more in essays and just at my house it was very easy. For me in the AP exam that is what I found to be the easiest. Some ways that I put this skill practice was in the class when having to do comparison essays. The first things that I would have to do when I did an essay was doing the chart and then in sides having to put wich ever SPICE elements it was asking for then I wrote down what came off the top of my head. I bealive that this is the skill that I have mastered the best this whole year. EvidenceAs evidence I am using a chart that I did comparing the post classical period and the Early Modern Period. In this chart I am just doing comparison without using the SPICE elements I am just doing the basic. ![]() |
Historical CausationAnother skill that I learned to do was to analyze and evaluate the relationship between cause and effect and what role does time play in all of it. One way that I learned to do this is when writing a Continuity and Change Over time essay. In that essay first you had to read the prompt to know what time period you have to think about and analyze the facts you know and to make sure they fit in that time period. Also when you are analyzing the time period you have to think of what was going on that caused the change and what effect in had in society. I learned to improve this skill during this whole year. For me it was never easy because you have to know at least most of the time period and evaluate the information that you know and think of how that information is relevant to your prompt. I had a problem because I had a difficult time in actually learning the whole period. Also when you have wrote down what you already know you have to start making the connections between them and think of the effects. When you are done thinking of the effects then you think of it is a continuity or a change and if it s a change you have to think of why it is a change. Another thing is that when writing the essay you have to make an appropriate historical connection of the prompt. What helped me is alot was when I would get a prompt in the beginning of the class and had 40 minutes to write the whole essay. That helped me because when I would get my essay back and see his comments. That would help me because that made me see my errors and next time I wrote the same essay I would correct those mistakes. EvidenceAs evidence I am using a chart that I did during my winter vacation. In this essay I had to write in the beginning of the period and analyze what the change was and the process of doing it. Then I did the same thing for the middle of the period. Then at the end of the process repeat the process.

Appropriate use of Relevant Historical EvidenceDuring AP World History this year I had to Learn to evaluate evidence from the past and extract the information and analyze point of views. During the year I learned to do that by writing Document Based Documents essays. In the DBQ essay first you have to read the documents that are given which are usually ten. After you read the documents you have to think about what information is relevant to the prompt. When you do that you really have to analyze the reason why that document was given to you. When you are done doing that you have to analyze point of views. By analyzing at least two points of view you get the point that is is the rubric if it is correctly done. It is better to do it for every document when you have time to practice the skill and make sure that you are doing it right. Some ways that the class helped me demonstrate the skill is when Mr.Rodriguez would give us a sample DBQ to do and then later show us what he thought and explain why it is right and how to use the documents to demonstrate it. One time that I remember doing this was in middle of first semester around October. The prompt was about analyzing the responses of Buddhism in China. Like Mr.Rodriguez gave us this as a practice we had six documents but in the bottom he wrote the questions we are suppose to think of when writing a DBQ. In the beginning of the year even with the questions written down I would have not been able to answer them. Now I do it directly from my mind without even having to write down the questions. When I read the documents now it is just something my mind does automatically and by the time that I am analyzing I have the answer to those questions. Evidence For evidence I am going to use a the guide I did in October that demonstrate how I started to use these skills. Another piece of evidence that I am going to use is a DBQ essay that I did for my mock AP exam that shows how I graded myself.
